HealthKit & Data
Why isn't my health data showing up?
Make sure you've granted Ankora permission to access your health data:
- Open the iPhone Settings app
- Scroll down and tap "Health"
- Tap "Data Access & Devices"
- Find and tap "Ankora"
- Enable the health categories you want to track
Is my health data stored on your servers?
No. All your health data is stored on your device in Apple HealthKit. Your personal health metrics is only used locally, except for LLM features where anonymized data is sent for analysis and insight generation. Your data, even when anonymized, is never stored on any servers.
How often does the app sync with Apple Health?
Ankora syncs with Apple Health in real-time whenever you open the app or pull to refresh. Your data is always current and reflects what's stored in HealthKit.
Can I revoke health data permissions?
Yes, you can revoke permissions at any time through iOS Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > Ankora. The app will continue to work, but will only show data for categories you've granted access to, and insights analysis will also be limited to the categories you've granted access to.
Ankora Plus Subscription
What do I get with Ankora Plus?
Ankora Plus gives you unlimited access to premium features including detailed health insights, advanced analytics, and unlimited LLM-powered content generation.
How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
Your Ankora Plus subscription is tied to your Apple ID. To restore your purchase:
- Open Ankora on your new device
- Sign in with the same Apple ID you used to purchase
- Use a premium featuer like detailed analysis views
- Tap "Restore Purchases" when the subscription page appears
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID:
- Open the iPhone Settings app
- Tap your name at the top
- Tap "Subscriptions"
- Find and tap "Ankora Plus"
- Tap "Cancel Subscription"
Your access will remain active until the end of the current billing period.
Can I get a refund?
All subscription purchases are handled by Apple. To request a refund, you'll need to contact Apple Support directly through reportaproblem.apple.com.
LLM-Powered Features
What are LLM-powered features?
Ankora offers optional smart features including automated journaling, health metric comments, and detailed health analysis. These features use large language models (LLMs) to generate personalized insights based on your health data.
Do I have to use these smart features?
No, these features are optional. However the purpose of the app is to be a smart companion for your health, so we recommend you to use them to get the best out of the app.
Is my data safe when using LLM-powered features?
Yes. only anonymized health data is sent to our LLM providers and these providers will never know who you are. This data:
- Contains no personally identifiable information
- Is stripped of timestamps, names, and identifying details
- Is processed in real-time and never stored on servers
- Cannot be linked back to you
What is the Privacy Agreement for smart features?
Before using the features, you'll see a Privacy Agreement explaining that anonymized health data will be sent to cloud LLM services for processing. You must explicitly accept this agreement to use the features.
Privacy & Security
How does Ankora protect my privacy?
Ankora is built with privacy-first principles:
- Health Data Storage: All health data is stored in Apple HealthKit. Deleting the app will not affect your HealthKit data.
- Anonymous Data Transmission: Your health data is never linked to you or your account and processing is fully anonimized.
- No Third-Party Tracking: We don't sell or share your personal health information. We use anonymous metrics to analyse app crashes and usage which in turn helps us improve the app experience for everyone.
What data does Ankora collect?
Ankora collects minimal data:
- Account Info: Your Apple ID or email address used to register is on our authentication system. All other personal data such as demographics are kept only your device. For complete anonymity, we recommend using Apple's Hide My Email feature when logging in.
- Usage Analytics: We use analytics software to understand how users interact with our app. This helps us improve features and fix issues. We collect
- Optional Location: Location for weather-based suggestions (if you enable it) is used to fetch weather data for your location. We use Apple's WeatherKit API to fetch the weather data and your location is never stored anywhere.
Account & Sign In
Why do I need to sign in with Apple?
Ankora uses Sign in with Apple or email based sign in for secure, privacy-focused authentication. This allows us to secure our backed APIs to prevent abuse and disruptions to the service.
What happens if I sign out?
Your health data will remain in Apple HealthKit, but you'll need to sign in again to access Ankora features. Your subscription will remain active and tied to your Apple ID.
Can I use Ankora on multiple devices?
Yes! Sign in with the same Apple ID on all your devices. Your Ankora Plus subscription will work across all devices, though health data is stored separately on each device in HealthKit.
Troubleshooting
The app crashes or freezes
Try these steps:
- Force quit the app and reopen it
- Make sure you have the latest version of Ankora from the App Store
- Make sure your iPhone is running iOS 26.0 or later
- Restart your iPhone
- If the issue persists, contact us on X/Twitter with details about when it occurs
LLM features aren't working
Check the following:
- Make sure you accepted the Privacy Agreement for LLM features
- Verify you have an active internet connection
- Check if you have HealthKit data for the metrics you're trying to analyze
- Try signing out and signing back in
Notifications aren't working
To enable notifications:
- Open iPhone Settings
- Scroll down and tap "Ankora"
- Tap "Notifications"
- Enable "Allow Notifications"
- Make sure you completed the notification onboarding in the app
Activity suggestions don't match my location/weather
If weather-based activity suggestions aren't working:
- Make sure you granted location permission during onboarding
- Go to Settings in the app and verify your location is correct
- Try updating your location manually in Settings
- Note: Location is optional and uses location-level data only (not GPS)
Medical Emergencies: Ankora is not a medical device and should never be used for medical emergencies. If you think you have a medical emergency, immediately call emergency services (such as 911 in the United States).
